OPAQUE SPACE is a games and content studio working on developing experiences and emerging technology in collaboration with NASA, Epic, HTC, Nvidia and other global partners.  

 

Emre Deniz - Director 

Emre Deniz has been working in Virtual Reality for the past four years, being one of the first developers in Australia to work on the HTC Vive as well as having worked as both lead game designer and artist on multiple projects in Virtual, Augmented and Mobile experiences. Emre has previously worked with international partners such as Microsoft, Google and Epic on projects such as the award winning Virtual Dementia Experience, Kinect for Unreal and the internationally recognized Earthlight.

Emre is currently the director at the HTC Vive-X backed 'Opaque Space', working alongside Epic and NVIDIA to bring space-based VR experiences to consumers as well as collaborating with NASA laboratories working on hybrid reality training for astronauts.

He has also been an active advocate for diversity, accessibility and ethical development in VR and regularly speaks at conferences and lectures on game design, community building and development in VR.

Jennifer Scheurle - Game Design Lead

Jennifer Scheurle is a world-travelling Game Designer and public speaker who has worked on 10+ released titles since she started working in the industry 6 years ago. Born and raised in Germany and with a Bachelor of Arts (hons) in game development, she has played her role in Europe’s thriving indie game scene. She was named as one of the 30 most influential women in game development in 2017 by the Australian MCV Pacific and was listed among their 30 under 30 in the same year.

That year, her work on the game Objects in Space with Flat Earth Games was nominated for an award at Alt.Ctrl.GDC for its physical play setup.

Michael Davies - Technical Lead

Michael Davies is an all-rounder software engineer with over a decade of professional video games experience and a Bachelor of Computer Science from the University of Melbourne. He has worked internationally as a senior and lead gameplay engineer on a wide range of platforms, genres and titles. His areas of interest include gameplay, artificial intelligence, networking, audio, and user interfaces. Beyond his professional video games career, he has designed and released several independent video games for iOS and PC, and developed augmented-reality installations for retail spaces.

Stefan Allaki - Art Lead

Stefan Allaki is a visual artist with over 10 years experience creating real time environments on a wide range of titles and platforms. In addition to games, Stefan has worked on projects ranging from CG commercials, interactive art installations, website visualisations, serious games and architecture.  Stefan attended the Academy of interactive entertainment in 04-05, and has since worked with many local developers including Atari, Krome and EA Firemonkeys. In 2014 Stefan was art lead on the project Alpha Muse which was nominated for a GDAA Excellence in Art award, and won a GDC best in play.
